Passports & Notary

Need to apply for a passport?

Appointments are available now to submit your New Passport Applications (Form DS-11) at the library. Standard Department of State Passport Fees apply plus a $35 processing fee for the library.

Need something notarized?

Appointments with a Notary Public from the library staff are now available. There is no fee but there are a handful of documents for which we cannot offer notary services.

Passport Application FAQs

For all applicants coming to the appointment, please bring completed New Passport Application Forms (DS-11), current state-issued photo ID, proof of U.S. citizenship and an acceptable passport photo. Review the Department of State Passport homepage for a full list of acceptable documents.

No, we don’t take passport photos at the library. You can have photos done at places like CVS, Walgreens, AAA, Staples, and others.

Children under 16 applying for a passport must be present at the appointment and accompanied by both parents/guardians. Parents/guardians should bring all necessary documents and their state-issued photo IDs or current passports. If for any reason both parents/guardians cannot be at the appointment, review the supplemental forms that are needed.

Standard US Department of State Passport Fees will apply for each application depending on the applicants age and other options (ex. routine vs. expedited processing). Passport fees are only payable via check or money order. There is also a $35 processing fee per application that is payable to the Westwood Public Library via check or cash.

We recommend checking the US Department of State Processing Times page for the most up-to-date information, but as of Fall 2025 estimate processing times are 2-3 weeks for expedited applications and 4-6 weeks for routine applications.

It depends. You’ll want to use the US Department of State Passport page to determine what process and form is best for you. You are only required to use an acceptance facility for the New Passport Application Form DS-11. However, if you have questions about a renewal application, we are happy to schedule an appointment free of charge to review it with you.
